Jemma received her BA from Wellesley College and PhD in Romance Languages and Literatures from Princeton University, where she taught for four years. She also studied art at the Université Paris-Sorbonne. Often influenced by a near-death experience she had when young, much of her creative work is cross-genre and includes visual poetry, ekphrasis, and collage, incorporating original and found text and art. Her poems, paintings, and photographs have appeared or are forthcoming in Iron Horse Literary Review, Permafrost, The Ilanot Review, The Fourth River, Thin Air, Canyon Voices, EcoTheo Review, Okay Donkey, FEED Lit Mag, Feral: A Journal of Poetry and Art, Young Ravens Literary Review, Literary North, Ethel, and in exhibitions throughout the Northeast.
